Under
6's
Thankfully it was a warm and sunny
morning at South Street on Saturday 8th October when Barming Youth
Football Clubs future football players arrived. The small, yet talented
recruits and only aged between 5 and 6 years old, put on their football
boots and waited for Jocky to blow his whistle. Then the 27 new
Barming players took their places at there new training home "South
Street".
The Manager Richard Field, Jason
Hedger and Tom Parkinson (Junior Assistant, with Barming Youth
Under 10's) started the training session with a gentle warm up.
The training then progressed with many different footballing skills
with each child showing, individually and then in team work, what
he or she could do. The children then participated ( what was
to be for some of them, their first ever game) in a friendly football
match. There was plenty of encouragement and excitement from all
the Mums, Dads and Grandparents standing on the sideline, especially
when a couple of players forgot what end they were meant to be
shooting at! The whole two hours just flew by.
Just before the end of the training
session a penalty shoot out competition was held. The winner was
presented with a special certificate and there was a trophy presented
to another player for "Player Of The Day". This is always
a particularly difficult decision for all managers to make, especially
when all players have tried so hard, but all 27 children were
rewarded at the end of the morning with a very well earned treat.
Thank you to Denise and
Paula for helping with the administration side of things and many
thanks must go to Richard and Jason for taking on this huge, yet,
very rewarding task.
